Only those who hold a university degree can become court interpreters, after having passed special written and oral examinations. Even though they are referred to as interpreters, court interpreters spend most of their time dealing with written translations, especially with official documents.

A certified translation must fully comply with the original. At the bottom of each translated page, there must be the interpreters’ seal, signature and a certification text. The translation must be bound to the original.

The cost of certified translation is usually 30% higher than the translations of other written documents. This is fully understandable, considered the fact that translation of official documents also implies a higher degree of responsibility. For this reason, when translating official documents, court interpreters must have their eyes wide open and pay attention to every single detail.
